Bulls and bouls

Boul and bull are homonyms: even though they are spelt differently and have different meanings, the words sound exactly the same. In the Tower of Babel that this production has become (Dutch, Somali, Ethiopian, French and English as lingua franca) this is bound to have repercussions.

When a traditional nomadic Somali house (boul) sounds like a male bovine (bull) even in the official pronounciation of the English language, this is destined to be a source of confusion amongs non-native speakers: How many bouls/bulls are there in scene 24? There are no bulls/bouls in scene 24!


On another level: when the French pronounce the word mud hut, it sounds like madhehatte. The Dutch use mud hut to refer to matters of a scatalogical nature (thanks Han!) Fortunately there is only one mud hut in the screenplay and no diarrhoea!
