Oh Roelof, oh Guillaume, of God, what can I say? I can’t get over the sense of shock. It is so similar to what I experience all the time – such greed and stupidity – in countries that fail. And they fail because of values (values???) like this. This is the clan system in all its stupid vanity; corruption as away of life. If Somalilanders want to be seen as better than the Somalia they have separated from they should buck up and show themselves to be better.
T. E. Laurence (Lawrence of Arabia) in The Seven Pillars of Wisdom was furious at the Arabs when they did this sort of thing. In spite of his love for them he screamed “You are a little people, and you always will be a little people”. Your anger is completely justified. Those to blame should be made to account for their actions. Stupid. Stupid.
